Definitely. I’m sorta in the position disciplinarily where I don’t make sense in any of the traditional disciplines unless they’re really willing to make an exception for someone without a lick of traditional training, so the go-ahead from the advisors is basically an okay to apply to the 3 or 4 positions in women’s and gender studies/Af-Am/Africana departments that have their own lines that open up each year. I wish I were heavily exaggerating that number.
