So I know I’m responding to Glenn Beck on the internet like it’s gonna change something but…

African-American came about to reflect the the fact that the children of the slave trade don’t know where their families were stolen from. I can say I’m German, Irish, and Italian. That is a specificity that is not allowed for African-Americans.

I’m glad, as usual, that I don’t rely on folks like Glenn Beck to tell me what I can, can’t, or prefer to call myself. Which so happens to be black, not African(-)American.
