where have you been!?

Well, what’s been keeping me away of late has been a set of classic ingredients in a crust of general busy-ness: academic job applications, a dash of traveling (to Palm Springs and San Diego for the best friend’s 30th which included a healthy balance of work and play with what has to number among the cutest group of grad students ever), a scoop of non-antagonistic but nevertheless chafing annoyance at tumblr norms of insta-reactiveness and what good friends call “pile-on,” which exacerbates and is exacerbated by the whole writer’s block thing, as well as the feeling that if I don’t have anything interesting to say I might as well not say it at all.  Plus I’m having a hard time discerning the difference in my own writing between “saying something interesting” and “hateration for hateration’s sake.”  

So yeah, you know, all that.  But I’ll be back, eventually, once I figure some way of recouping some measure of writerly swag.
